I renewed my relationship with my faithful….

I renewed my relationship with my faithful “steamer” & “stove” last weekend with my love for fish – mackerel to be precise. I made LAKSAM – less coconut milk with loads of fresh “ulam” for detoxification as well. I’ve been shedding hair like a cat lately and this I blame to not only hormone in balance, A’aesyah blowing raspberries and unbalanced diet. This gave me the opportunity to make use of mom’s gift from Adik’s wedding – 2 dipping & sauce bowls with matching lids & spoon. I simply love the English Country Rose design on them…reminds me of those old china pots and dishes.

Of course making LAKSAM does mean you have to slave yourself more than 5 hours with the steamer but since I know digging into those cruncy veges and soft mackerel meat with that creamy sauce, that zing from the hot bird eye chillies of the sambal belacan and that wif of anchovies from the budu, its worth the slaving and waiting.

Abah…I specifically followed your advise this time around and made the rolled up sushi like without fillings of rice rolls as thinly as they come. I also added 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil to the batter, so this time they rolled perfectly…I had accomplished making the PERFECT LAKSAM although I am not from Kelantan or Trengganu – hebat kan?

Celebrating my one year anniversary…

Sometimes I sit infront of my pc, quietly at a small corner cubicle of my dept’s office space, just behind me my TL, and wonder what I am doing here.

and sometimes when I think of the past one year tenure ship…and the stuff I’ve been exposed to…I’ve been able to enjoy…the good and the bad…and compare to the BAD that has happend before…I think I am blessed

With economic downfalls in every part of the world now, I am actually glad I still have a good paying job.

I’m also glad I have people who care still around me…and people who dont care no longer around me (but I do pray they are in better places now)

I’m however sad that people I’ve enjoyed their company & friendship…are no longer with us in the dept or company…Krishna, you’re deeply missed…Valerie, I have no one to talk fashion, holidays & handbags with, how sad…Prakash, miss ur football talks & Johor MPs…Alvin, my exceptions are so kecoh now…no more breaks courtesy of you…no more cit cats of photography…

However, I know I owe a big thank you for me still surviving here to some very special ppl in the team during my one year tenureship here….

Ee Vern – my beloved mentor…thank you for paving me the way…for being patient with me

Zaireen – Good friend…sister…thank you for being there tru thick & think

Nicholas – The exceptional leader who never stops believing in you…thank you sir!

Reuban – YOu’re the best trainning mate I ever had, congratulations as well

& last but not least Siti – Thank you for being the most patient TL on earth…your leadership is out of this world!!

My new year resolution for me being in the dept – to do better than ever…I am putting my heart & soul into this job.

Sports Day after 12 years

We decided for an official family outing to my comp’s event on today. Seriously I have not attended a sports day in 12 years (not even Aliya’s – shame on me)

My BFF Zaireen had her kids tag along as well…shame shame on SINGLETONS who did not make it, coz my kid personally was screaming at the top of her lungs coz it was hot & humid. I gave birth to a DIVA, what can I say. DH & me took turns comforting her.  Am lucky I didnt decide to bring NO 1 in line of the throne along….envious of Zaireen for having a maid to address issues we mommies have sometimes….but anyway, the pic came out great and to answer your email earlier to me Ireen – this is definately a motivator during those crazy days at work
