Muallaf, Amani, Being Bald & Lost Souls

This is what most saw of Amani’s new looks…

This is what most have not seen, unless they visit Yasmin Ahmad’s website – the storyteller

Muallaf. A synopsis. – taken from The Storyteller

20-year old Rohani and her 14-year old sister Rohana are two Malay girls on the run from their wealthy, abusive father.

Finding refuge in a smaller town, their secret little world collides with that of Robert Ng, a 30-year old Catholic school teacher.

The young man finds himself irresistibly drawn towards the sisters, and the extraordinary courage with which they face adversity, in a relationship that inevitably forces Robert to confront a haunting memory of his own troubled childhood.

In this story of lost souls who find comfort in each other, friendship opens the window to forgiveness and reconciliation with the past.

But then again there are other “lost souls” who really truly embraced the religion. Those who felt that there was something missing in their lives that by embracing Islam, they have found peace and they have found love that was once lost.

You may read their stories at :

Islam is a peaceful religion and by the true Islamic Morals it is a religion of peace and well-being and though a lot of us might not know, it defends tolerance and freedom of speech. There is no compulsion in religion. Right guidance has become clearly distinct from error. Anyone who rejects false gods and believes in God has grasped the Firmest Handhold, which will never give way. God is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (Surat al-Baqara: 256)

Muallaf seems to hold a worthwhile synopsis worth checking out when it reaches the movie theathres. I wish kak Yasmin all her best in this upcoming movie. She is not only talented but one of a kind.

I shall not comment more about how Amani looks or wheather she is being a good muslim role model.

Islam is a religion which fosters freedom of life, ideas and thought. It has forbidden tension and conflict among people, calumny, suspicion and even having negative thoughts about another individual. Of course, Muslims may urge one another to keep the moral precepts taught in the Qur’an, but they never use compulsion. In any case, an individual cannot be induced to the practice of religion by either threat…Harun Yahya – The True Islamic Morals

That reminded me of the time my dad drove me back to my campus…he said

“To cover one’s head and yet still see your loins (he was talking about the girls wearing hijabs but tucking in body tees into their jeans)…the grasp of faith is without compulsion, it is with a clear mind and a clear heart to seek the love and respect of Allah swt…not the love of respect of those around you…”

Wallahualam…

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching.”  – Quran 16:125
